The Macaroni and Cheese Room...

What would you do?

We dyed the slipcover for the couch brown long before we painted the room macaroni and cheese orange. (It was one of our first efforts to bring more color into the room--it was only partially successful and the dye didn't take very well.)

I switched to the "natural" color slipcover, but I'm still not in love with it. (I do have some fabric to make some colorful pillows, but still...)

Now I'm thinking of getting a black slipcover (actually, I'm thinking of testing it first by dying the ugly brown slipcover black before I actually spend real money on a new slipcover). What do you think? What is your vote? Should I stick with the slipcover in natural and add bright pillows or should I try black with bright pillows?

P.S. The floor is white-ish ceramic tile. The television stand is white, the bookshelves are white, and my craft/sewing desk is white.

I may be crazy, but I think you need to get a bright bold color like turquoise, one that doesn't match at all, and then intertwine those colors in the room. bring purple, turquoise and green in, and i think the colors would make the room bright and uplifting! :) Don't do a black couch... paint all of your white stuff a different color. it will be on purpose, and all "match" because they are all going with a "bright" theme. This is totally what I would do, but I'm crazy lol.

AND all of the colors will be more inspiring to you, since it is your craft room! don't do patterns. it wont match! lmao (i say this like I have any idea what I'm talking about at all).

What ever you do....just don't use a black slip cover!! That will be way too dark. The wall is the focal point of the room, so just do simple accents to match it. I would keep the neutral slip cover and make or buy accent pillows.

I would stick with the natural slipcover. Then I would slipcover the pillows in citrus colors....a bright lemon yellow, a lime citrusy green. I might even have some rasberry sherbert like accents. Or perhaps turquoise.

But yellow and lime green would look pretty cool with the orange!

Black also gets nasty looking quickly.

You're asking the wrong person about orange here. I wear it, and tend to match it with reds, pinks, blues, greens...and every other color out there possible.

I'm with Melissa. I think a great lime green would be fantastic. Just like the pillow you were planning. Otherwise I think the natural with lots of color pops would do the trick.

Oh and I think that wall needs an N collection.

So orange walls are in? You're making me rethink my plan of repainting the bonus room of our NC house...which came with deep, bright orange and yellow walls. I'm tabling the repainting plan for now while I watch what you do with your craft room...

Okay, so it seems pretty unanimous. Leave the natural slipcover on the couch and add bright colors via throw pillows and other accents.

Tricia, go to a blog called "How about orange" for a bunch of ideas of what you can do with orange. (I'd leave the bonus room...you have grandkids coming over...let it be a fun room.)
