Making Your Home Sing Monday

I know I say this every week, but I just can't get over how quickly time seems to be passing. Here we are at yet another Monday. How did that happen? As it is Monday, it is time for me to join the party at Making Your Home Sing Monday. Nan at Momstheword hosts this party each week, encouraging us all to enter into each week with the goal of a happy productive week. Some weeks are better than others, but for us in the Nagle5 household, the storm clouds have blown over and clear skies are all we can see.

For Making Your Home Sing Monday, our house is singing "V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N" along with Connie Francis. Yes, four of us are heading to our first camping trip of the season next week and this week is going to be spent getting us ready. Most of the yard work that was 'recovering from winter' is done and some big projects will be wrapped up next weekend. Our garden is planted and doing well. (I already have tiny tomatoes growing!) Charming is settled in back at home after his first year away at college.

So, our first camping trip starts on the 15th and won't end until we head home on Father's Day. (We're going to be heading back into town to watch our friend graduate from college and then head back out to the campsite - definitely one of the joys of camping an hour away from home.) Everyone is getting really excited as the time finally draws near.

So, what do we do to get ready to go camping? In addition to cleaning the house top to bottom (I must come home to a clean house), we have to clean the trailer (I clean it before we close it up in September, but I clean it again when we open it up in May or June), put sheets on the beds, stock the kitchen with staple items, stock the bathroom, put in the camping clothes, and the bug spray. I need to figure out the menu for our trip. I need to bake extra loaves of bread and freeze them and make all the dinners and freeze them. We'll also need to get firewood for campfires for five nights and a roll of quarters for the showers (I love being able to shower when I'm camping...being clean makes the days brighter!)

We'll be doing all this and doing our normal stuff, too. The difference? We don't feel put out because we're so excited. A lesson? Maybe. How can we stay excited about doing all the things we need to do when we're NOT excited about something coming up? I don't know, but I'm working on it.

So, what are you doing this week to help make your house sing? Head on over to Making Your Home Sing Mondays at Momstheword to see what everyone else is up to this week. You'll learn new things and feel encouraged...I always do!

Wow. Sounds like you are going to have so much fun!!!!

i always like to return home to a clean house too. And I like to get the trailer unpacked, and everything put away before I shower (we don't have showers where we go).

It sounds like the preparations are keeping you busy...but it will all be worth it when you're having fun vacationing!

I have trailer envy as well as vacation envy, man I'm just a green eyed monster right now.

Does this mean that I will not have you on line for a whole 7 days?! OMG I'm hyperventilating just thinking about the withdrawal.

deep breathes, head down between your knees, here's a paper bag...

Oh how fun! We used to have a camper. Loved it! We sold with the intention of getting one that would better fit our needs. Hopefully that will happen w/in the next 6 mths to a year. We'll see.

Take care my friend!
I saw your comment and I think it's a great idea. I will email you.
