Seeing the beauty in every day...

One of the things I've tried to do with my children is to teach them that there is beauty all around us, if we will just slow down enough to see it. Imagine my surprise when I uploaded pictures to my computer and found these sweet little pictures among my more mundane ones. The bright yellow finch is eye-catching, but they also saw the little brown one, too. Notice how little they are, using the ice-cream stick as a measure of scale. They're just tiny.

Apparently, Valiant and Buttercup spied these little beauties outside our kitchen window when Valiant was making breakfast for us all. They were struck by their beauty and ran to get the camera. No, their pictures weren't the best quality, but so what? I was so touched that they wanted to be sure I saw the little birds. My children remind me to slow down and I pass the reminder along to you.

So, from my children to your heart: Don't forget to see the beauty in your everyday lives...it is there, you just need to be open to it.

My husband is always reminding us to appreciate the beauty outside. We have a bird feeder so we like to see the different birds that land on it!

The little grey one is our Leo. He is such a wonderful bird and always singing. He's not that big though because he can't be still.

Enjoying the everyday beauty in the little things is one of the things that made me fall in love with my husband. I never looked around me much and he was always appreciating God´s creation. My girls got that from their daddy too and all four of them are teaching me to do the same. I just love it!

Alicia, seeing the birds reminded us we need to put up our feeders. Gens, I love hearing birds sing (inside and out)...we have two parakeets and they welcome the sun everyday.
Pilar, what a blessing your husband brings to you and your daughters.

They are so tweet. Ha ha ha. You know I'm a big bird admirer, I love to see that the kids are too. Right now my life is about stopping to see the beauty around me, as it is what is helping to keep me sane. I'm trying to get Fig to do it more too. Thanks for the post and thank the kids for the pics.

What sweet pictures. They did a good job.

I have a ? for you. One of my readers said that your comments on my blog are showing up in her emails (well, you and two other readers).

Did you notice anything different when you left a comment on my blog today? I just am thinking that Blogger has got our feeds mixed up or something.

The comments show on my blog but also on her email so they're duplicates. Very strange.
