To Say Thanks...

We seem to live in a world where complaining is easy, but saying "thank-you" is done less and less. Maybe it is because I spent years in customer service or as an administrative assistant or maybe it is because I am trying to be true to what I feel, but I try to tell people when I appreciate a job well done or when a kindness touched me.

As I mentioned on Monday, we had a fabulous Easter Sunday at the home of some friends and I've been wanting to find a little something to give to the hostess to let her know how much we appreciated her opening her home to our family. It occurred to me that the bright dish towels I found earlier today, combined with a candle in a coordinating color, were just the perfect Spring something. When I knew she'd be stopping by late in the evening to pick up her daughter, I put everything together with a card letting her know how much fun we had and surprised her with it when she arrived at our door. I can only hope she feels even a little bit as special as she made our family feel last weekend.

What do you think? Do you give little gifts when you can? Does it make you feel special to receive little gifts? How do you say thank you?

What a cute idea! I guess I'm not much of a gift giver. I've had my moments though and I used to love to make baskets and fill them with stuff. It was fun and I liked being creative.

BTW, I heard Susan Boyle's voice and she is amazing!!!

Moms, I've never particularly done baskets, but this gift seemed to call for one.

Susan Boyle IS amazing, isn't she? The second link is to a song she recorded in 1999...truly fantastic.

I love giving little gifts of thanks to people when I can. I might even enjoy that more than getting them. Heck I even love giving just because gifts. That feeling when you've really put your heart into it and you see the other persons genuine appreciation. It is so great. It actually is even better than Birthday and Christmas gifts because you are doing it because you are thinking of that particular person and not because it is some obligatory Holiday celebration. I haven't listened to Susan Boyle yet, but I will give it an ear soon.

Yes, I do give gifts..Isn't it sooo much fun to give to others and I, too say thank you. I am trying to teach my children and grandchild the importance of giving and being thankful. What a great reminder for all of us. Blessings, andrea

LA - just because gifts are the best. YOu'll really love Susan Boyle - I promise!

Andrea - it is wonderful to watch my children embrace giving. This past Christmas was the first one where I can truly say they watched with happy anticipation to see their siblings open presents they had given them. Everyone was so involved in watching that no one wanted to open their own presents...they finally understood!
