Ugly Dog Bed - Before and After

I've been sewing. Buttercup's room was the recipient of a futon (making sleepovers that much more fun) and I took two twin flat sheets (Walmart $4/ea) and made a new cover for it in a lovely teal instead of the dark forest green that it was originally. Then, in a fit of inspiration, I took a little bit of a floral fabric I had and more of the teal sheeting and recovered this ugly dog bed. This bed was given to us by a neighbor whose dog didn't like it. Our dogs, on the other hand, loved it. Unfortunately, it is really ugly and quite the eyesore in Buttercup's room. Once we settled on the teal for the futon, it was easy to figure out how to make a new cover for the dog bed.

The brown in the floral ties it in with her duvet cover and some home-made piping finished it off nicely. What do you think?

Oh, and look what I did to my narrow zipper foot in the process! Pretty hard-core, isn't it?

That's my sport: Extreme Sewing!!

It looks fantastic! What do your dogs think of it? Do they love the new look? (Like Alicia, I also had no idea what you were referring to in the last picture.) In the process of decorating this house, I have quite a few sewing projects myself lined up. I guess I better get started!
