Feel free to move on to another blog in your reader right here. I'm whining. I'm pouting. I'm probably being snarky.
My ungrateful children gave me the plague. I asked them not to. Seriously. When Buttercup came down with it more than a week ago, I told her I loved her and I would take care of her, but that she didn't need to share. I think she shared. A few bedtime kisses and some unscheduled coughs and sneezes may have done it.
But maybe it wasn't her. Maybe Valiant did it after she shared with him. Yep, 8 days after Buttercup came down with the plague, Valiant was felled. That was Monday. Today is Thursday.
Instead of playing around and coming up with a Shoot Me post or working on my Fertilizer Friday post, I caved...right after I finished all the grocery shopping, got the car smogged and registered and picked up a couch for my oldest son, the one who seems to have gone AWOL. Right when I thought I'd be heaving a sigh of relief and doing a little bit of fun stuff, the sledge hammer hit. I, too, have succumbed to the plague.
I told the kids they were bad children. I whined via email to my sister. I put my pajamas on. I took drugs. I feel horrible. The kids don't seem to have much sympathy. Valiant put Bean on my chest and she scratched me. Buttercup generously told me that since I was dying I didn't have to read a chapter of our book at bedtime and, in the meantime, what could she have to eat?
I wonder if I'm already dead and this IS hell and I just don't recognize it because it looks so much like my bedroom.
Is hell being in my bedroom, feeling like I'm going to die, and feeling frustrated because I have so much I want to do? Maybe. That is it! I've solved one of the worlds mysteries: hell is my bedroom, sick as a dog, stuck playing solitaire because you can't fall asleep but you can't focus to read.
Glad I figured that out. Now I can go back to feeling sorry for myself.

Excused Absence, Please...
Buttercup is now sick and I am still sick and poor Valiant celebrates his 14th birthday tomorrow (the 16th!)...I'll be back when I can...

No singing or crafting today...

This week I won't be making my house sing. I won't be sharing craft projects. Honestly, I won't even be trying. Nope, this week I am playing the role of Florence Nightingale aka "Doctor Mom". Yep, you guessed it. My house is an infirmary this week. Buttercup is sick, Valiant is sick, even Superman is sick. I'm doing everything I can to get everyone better. Me? I'm doing everything I can to fight it.

The house is a wreck from the weekend, however, as sickness didn't stop us from racing the against the weather. (The nighttime temperatures dropped into the teens this weekend.) The adults were pruning back the plants that we'll see again in the spring, ripping u the vegetable gardens and turning the soil, rescuing the potted plants by getting them into our new greenhouse (which Superman was racing to finish) and getting "milk house" heaters set up in it. We've still got to get the sprinklers blown (today!), as well as getting the windows sealed up for winter (which will wait until later this week). In between all this, we found ourselves telling the kids things like, "What are you doing outside with/without a jacket/shoes/shorts/flip flops? You are sick! Get back in the house." The kids, in the meantime, felt well enough to challenge all efforts to keep them warm, dry, and calm. Thus, they wore themselves out and are both feeling quite poorly today.
We probably didn't help ourselves by hosting Game Night again on Saturday, but, as always, it was super fun and all the neighborhood kids have colds, so it really seemed pointless to try to separate them after the fact.
So, if I just hum along while the rest of you sing today, I hope you'll understand. Head over to Momstheword, cheer her on as she gets ahead on her cooking, and see what everyone else is doing this week to make their homes sing.
P.S. If you do a Google Search to find a cute picture for "Nurse Mommy" you get the weirdest images! A sexy pregnant nurse?! What is up with that?

We interrupt this blog...
...to let you know the blogger is down for the count with a spring cold.
The Nagle5 have even had to cancel Game Night for the first time since its inception.
So, while I'm dosing myself with hot tea laced with honey, why don't you go smile at Generations Gone By's post about just what it feels like the day AFTER you got very enthusiastic about Wii Fit. I'm thinking twice about jumping on this bandwagon...I don't know if I'm as brave as she is.
Also, would you please go give my bloggy friend, Melissa, some bloggy support? She just posted her progress pictures and she's doing amazingly well. If you don't know Melissa yet, she's committed to exercise 365 days (beginning January 1, 2009) and she hasn't missed a day yet, despite moving, interviewing for jobs, and being a SAHM to a toddler. How cool is that? If I've done my math correctly, since January 1 she's lost 15 pounds and 53 inches! Go look at her pictures here. You'll be proud of her, too. (Notice, especially, how much happier she gets as she progresses through her challenge...the first picture compared to the most recent picture tells the entire story.)
Finally, if you have a few minutes, I think you'll totally love SewDucky's series on Figure Analysis. Even if you don't sew clothes for yourself (or others), this is a really great way to think about your clothes...what suits you and what doesn't...all based on your body structure and type. (It is much better than the stupid are you an apple or are you a pear, I promise.) She has seven different parts and I was stunned to see that there was a reason I gravitated to the styles I do and why clothes I love on other people can look horrible on me. Seriously, she even has one on necklines...what type of neckline suits what type of body (shoulder size, long/short neck)...I found out why I always gravitate towards scoop necks: I have broad shoulders and a short neck. (Seriously, if my neck were to be as long as it is supposed to be, I would be 6' tall!)
So, go have fun...I'll be back as soon as I can.
Ah-choo!
