Shoot Me! 11 of 52

Okay, so it is Friday night so I'm a day late with my Shoot Me post, but I have decided it still can count. I took this picture on Monday, when Baby Kaleb came to play at our house. (Babies make terrific props, don't they?)

In this picture, he was still curious about he camera. Buttercup and I were having fun playing with him. He is a modern baby who Skypes to his daddy overseas every morning, so the camera's orange light didn't faze him.

Unfortunately, he quickly grew bored with being a model. Can't you tell?

It is amazing to see that this baby looks so much older so quickly. Taking pictures makes you really see it. Remember this picture? It was only two months ago.

Sorry this post is late, but I've actually been busy (who knew?). It is not too late to see everyone else's posts. Just head over to Forever in Blue Jeans and check out the pictures.

Blog, Interrupted!

I anticipated a different blog post for Wednesday morning, but this little guy spent most of the day at our house on Tuesday. A worthwhile diversion, don't you think? Baby K and Buttercup bonded over a bottle. She was in love. Being the baby of the family, she hasn't spent a lot of time with babies and was really nervous when Baby K started hanging out at our house. It was good to see her warm up and jump in. Valiant played with Baby K on the floor (yes, on a blanket) and was, as always, smitten. Having said that, both kids headed for the hills when I discovered a poopy diaper! Hey, what can I say? They're kids!

P.S. Happy St. Patrick's Day! Kiss me, I'm Irish! (Duh! My name is Erin!)

Shoot Me! 7 and 8 of 52

Carin at Forever in Blue Jeans had this great idea to get us in the pictures. Yes, you...the person always holding the camera at family gatherings. The one NOT present in any meaningful way in the family pictures...okay, not present AT ALL in the family pictures. She challenges us all to get in the pictures. Some people have been very creative and set up tripods to capture life. Me? I'm still at the "Darn, I need a picture for Shoot Me!" phase. My pictures have all been taken from a distance exactly equal to how far my own arm reaches from my face. I really need to work on that. This week, however, won't be that week. No, this week I'm catching up from missing a week of blogging so I haven't had time to create something, well, creative. Oh well, maybe next time.

Week 7 of 52:

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of being the first non-family member to watch baby Kaleb. Can you believe it? I was so honored. Do you remember baby Kaleb? He was born at the end of November but still managed to drag his mom to our Christmas party the first week of December. This boy is a charmer! He's already 3 months old, but this picture is from our first "date" when he was 6 or 7 weeks old.
The funniest part? I managed to blink when I was taking my own picture! Come on...that is funny!

Week 8 of 52:

After days of beautiful weather filled with sunshine and blue skies and temperatures in the high 40s and low 50s, we awoke yesterday to big fat fluffy snowflakes falling out of the sky. Today? No snow and bright beautiful sunshine...how weird is that?

Anyway, photographic evidence of the snow is behind me in this photo...you'll just need to take my word for it that I took it yesterday. I pinky promise!

Do you want to see some pictures from our party?

Yeah, I thought so!

The star of the party arrived early on. Look at this proud daddy. Mrs. M gave birth to baby Kaleb on the 20th and she brought him to the party! Did you notice the adorable Santa outfit? As you can imagine, a 2-week old baby did not lack for arms to hold him.

Miss Sue got him first. (If you look at the first picture, she barely let Mr. M get into the house...see? She's peeking right at the baby as Mr. M walks in and she's sitting on the stairs with Kaleb.)

Then Angela got him (she was the other one who ambushed Mr. M when he first walked in, but she had to get that darned jacket off, costing her valuable time in the baby race!). Joy made Angela give him up so she could have her turn while she joined in the reindeer games. She kept Kaleb while Mrs. M looked on. (Wasn't she awesome to even come to the party 2 weeks after giving birth? I think the fact that we live one block from each other helped!)

Finally, finally, I got my turn and my friend Mrs. R. got a picture when I was blurting out a guess in our annual Men vs. Women Pictionary game. (Look how little he is!)

This is what the table with the gingerbread houses looked like when it was surrounded by children.

Did I mention the Men won the Pictionary Game this year? As you can see, they weren't having any fun at all.
(This is James attempting to get someone on the Men's side to guess "The World's Fair" - it didn't take long.) Doesn't Superman make a good easel?

Serious thought is going on here!

P.S. Tricia, don't doubt it for a minute: if you'd been here, you'd have been at the party!
